Chinese Export Porcelain Blue & White Chamberstick

Underglaze blue Chinese export porcelain chamberstick, c. 1780.
 
Dimensions: Approximately 5½” diameter x 4” tall.
 
Decoration: 
The border is decorated with a diaper pattern.
 
The handle is in the shape of a bent tree.
 
The bowl is decorated with pagodas, a figure crossing a bridge over a lake or river, and applied leaves fan out from the base of the handle.
 
The candle stick is decorated with floral designs.
 
The reverse is undecorated.
 
The base bears the remnants of an old Sotheby’s label.
 
Condition: Tip of an applied leaf professionally restored, glaze hairline under base; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
