Blue and white Fitzhugh pattern Chinese export porcelain tureen, circa 1790.
Dimensions: Approximately 13½” long (incl. handles) x 11½” tall (incl. lid).
Decoration:
Both the lid and body have the typical Fitzhugh border pattern of a trellis diaper with spearheads and dumbbells.
They also have the typical Fitzhugh decoration of four sprays of chrysanthemums and peonies surrounding a central medallion.
The lid has a floral knopf.
Please note that this is a heavy item for shipping.
Condition: Under black light it appears that the knopf has had restoration; otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage.
