Pair of 18th Century Delftware Plates with Lotus Leaf Design
Tin-glazed earthenware plates manufactured by De Witte Ster factory, circa 1740.
Dimensions: Approximately 10⅜” diameter.
Decoration:
Each plate is decorated in a cobalt blue design of two concentric circles of lotus leaves with a central roundel. Each leaf and the central roundel is decorated with flowering plants. This replicates a contemporary Chinese porcelain design.
The reverse has three concentric blue circles and bears the mark of the De Witte Ster factory. This factory operated under different owners between 1660 and 1804.
Condition: There are glaze fleabites and frits typical of antique tin-glazed earthenware. Otherwise in excellent condition consistent with age and usage. Please examine the photos; they are part of the description.
